I have read many stories where people boil their propellers in order to increase their flexibility, durability and reduces the chance of them snapping in half. Now, I’ve always been somewhat skeptical of this procedure – boiling propellers just doesn’t seem right! However, I decided to give it a go to see what the results would be.
Does Boiling Propellers Work?
Yet it did! I took a pot of water and placed the props inside the pot. I then left it on the stove for 30 minutes. I used my APC Propellers for this test. When I took out the propellers, they were noticeably much more flexible but I waited for around 50 minutes for them to cool down.
Why is being more durable and flexible good? Well, it makes the propellers better for racing. Usually if my drone clips solid objects (such as gates) the props often break. Well this will significantly reduce the chance of this happening!
If you enjoyed this please share it below. Oh, and you can inform your wives that no prop residue was left in the pots after the boiling had finished!
