The Best 3 Areal Photography Drone Camera’s For Sale 2016

So your looking for a new drone camera to take some awesome areal photography shots. You want something that is robust, and won’t break easily yet still gives you that crisp and eye-catching video. Well if that describes you then look no further.

If your looking for an FPV camera for you drone then check out this article.

1. GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition

If you’ve spent any time at all looking for drone camera’s on the web then you undoubtedly will have seen the GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition somewhere. This is quite an expensive camera (coming in at just under $500) but its defiantly worth the price.8374078_rd

GoPro is by far the most well known and popular action camera brand in the world, which is why the Hero 4 costs so much money. Nevertheless, when I received my GoPro Hero 4 and used it a few times, it became evident that this is the best drone camera on the market. It’s videos and images are very sharp, crisp and clear and it outperforms all other action camera’s out there. It is one of the only small camera’s that can record 4K video at 30fps, 2.7K at 48fps and 1080p at 120fps.

But there is more. This is a tough rugged little camera and has been known to fall from 500m in the air and still work. Therefore, I should survive almost every crash it encounters when you are flying your drone.

The only drawback on this camera is that it is not quite as good as some of the others shown below in low light conditions. If low light is something that you regularly have to film then consider one of the options below. If not, you need to buy the GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition. It is the best camera for areal photography.

Oh yeah, another great benefit of the Hero 4 that you won’t find on any other action cameras is the huge range of third party accessories that it can use. If you want to create some stunning areal photography footage, the Hero 4 has the most brushless camera gimbals available.

If the Hero 4 is too expensive then consider the slightly cheaper Hero 4 Silver Edition. You won’t get the 4K video but you do get a nifty little screen on the back that is great for previewing your video.

2. X1000V / X1000VR 4K Action Cam with Wi-Fi & GPS

Sony have also joined the action camera game with the introduction of the X1000VR 4K Action Cam with Wi-Fi and GPS. This is a fantastic little product that combines many features that drone pilots need. It has 4K picture quality meaning that you will get those stunning photos and crisp images.10365849_3-1

It has a steady shot feature that means your videos will appear to be more stable. Take a look at the example below.

The wind noise reduction also means that when you are flying your drone at very fast speeds, you are not going to get that annoying sound of wind gushing around the camera.

Whilst this does have nice features (such as a live view remote meaning you can see exactly what your camera is seeing on a separate screen), this drone does not have the vast range of accessories that the GoPro has and thus is has to fall below it in my ranking. It also is not as robust as the GoPro and in my trials with it, the colours were not as vibrant except when in low light.

This is a cheaper alternative to the GoPro and thus if you can’t afford the Hero, buy the X1000VR instead.

3. Mobius ActionCam V3 1080p FPV Video Camera

There are higher quality action camera’s out there than the Mobius ActionCam V3 1080p FPV Video 0001092_mobius-actioncam-v3-1080p-fpv-video-camera_300Camera. However, I put this camera at number three as it is so much cheaper than all the other ones on the market. It has got 1080p video with 30fps and can do 720p at 60fps. It is only 40 grams which is about half that of the GoPro yet costs around $80. You won’t be able to shoot professional quality film on this camera, you need 4K video for that. But for the odd video to show your friends and family, this is the perfect cheap and reliable little camera.

A lot of people think that in order to take decent looking video you have to spend at least $200. But thanks to cameras like the Mobius ActionCam, that really isn’t true anymore. The Mobius is a very small camera that records 1080p video at 30fps. It can also do 720p at 60fps, but I only use the 1080p option 99% of the time.
